Round, red and sweet, the cherry is the first fruit of summer. Enjoy it because its season lasts only two months, from May to July! Choice, conservation, dietary virtues ... this fruit will have no secrets for you.

Cherries: choice and conservation

  • Do not judge the freshness of a cherry color or texture (each variety has his own), but his tail is well attached.
  • Eliminate damaged subjects.
  • Store the ripe cherries in the fridge and the greenest at room temperature.
  • Wash them just before eating, as moisture makes them rot.

  • Sweet, vaguely acidic, the cherry has the favors of babies, from 6-7 months. And that's good because it's an excellent source of carotene (25% of the recommended daily intake) that protects the cells.
  • So that its rich fiber does not cause trouble in the youngest, cook it in compote.
  • Moms will be wary of their greed: a single handful of cherries (about 100 g) brings 70 to 80 kcal. The acidic varieties (amarelles, sour cherries for example) are a little less sweet.
  • Rich in water and potassium, cherries stimulate intestinal function. Better to avoid drinking water by eating them to avoid bloating
  • Rich in vitamin C (125 g of cherries cover 20 to 30% of the recommended daily intake) and carotene, antioxidant vitamins (that is to say, they limit the harmful effects of free radicals on cells) .

Council +

Clafoutis, pies, jams ... basics for the cherry, but it is also ideal to accompany duck or game, we think less!
